Erlandsen was contracted by the City of Ellensburg to migrate existing CAD and related databases to GIS for the City’s natural gas and electrical utilities.
This involved a detailed review of the City’s existing CAD data for each utility, and an evaluation of the myriad of related non-spatial databases in Access, Excel, and other sources. We developed a process for migrating both the CAD and non-spatial data into GIS that ensured necessary relationship between data elements were established in GIS and generated reports identifying conflicts between disparate data sources. Erlandsen had previously collected mobile lidar for all public roads and alleyways in the City. We used this data to spatially correct both the natural gas and the electrical utility GIS data.
